Hey Tony!
TL> what were you trying to install FreeDOS onto? A Qemu/KVM VM? Or
TL> bare metal?
Heh, heh. The last time I tried to install a DOS as the default OS was a 486
with a 2G ide that the bios couldn't deal with. Linux (lilo) had no issues
booting it up but only if I installed lilo on a root partition rather than the
mbr. That was back in the mid 90's or so.
The freedos that I used to compare with the the virtuallized arm32,
approximating a respi, was on a modern x86_64 system and I seriously doubt it
will install on there as a root/boot option - not that I tried but I already
know that it won't given the hardware, especially the RAM.
TL> I didn't draw any conclusions, except that it's best to use native
TL> processors, where possible. :)
Agreed. That is why I am patitiently waiting to hear the right thing before
jumping onto the raspi bandwagon. I am thinking I want a pure 64 bit with the
ability to custom compile linux kernels wrt aarch64. If I am not confident
that I can pull that off, which as of this writing I am not, then I am not
really interested in taking the plunge myself. It will still be interesting to
hear about.
Given the above paragraph, everything after that will be pure bonus. :-)
Life is good,
Maurice
