Hi Nancy!
NW> did this on the ad! Then there is the live concerts with row after
BG> row of subs primarily there for the bass drum that everytime
BG> a note is played, it feels like a halfback just hit you right in the
BG> gut!!!
NW> I recently had that just thing happen to me (and the others at a
NW> Darrell McCall concert I was a guest at). The sound system had
NW> double-loaded 18"'s in "W" cabinets for low-end response and the
NW> soundman was giving 'em a work-out. He was more used to doing tejano
NW> music, which is heavier on the low-frequency than country.
Tell Reba's sound people that! Sheesh, I worked AC/DC just before her and not
sure who had the louder subwoofers, thought I showed up to do the "out" on
the wrong gig for awhile!
NW> The only ing we can
NW> figure out is he must have been ready to go home, cause he was trying
NW> his darnedest to run everyone out of there. There were several people
NW> (especially some of the older folks) who left.
He probably thought he was being cool. So many feel they have to show off ALL
of the potential of a system with a crowd there,... it's an ego thing, I
think.
NW> Thank goodness there
NW> wasn't any seating directly in front of the cabinets, at least for 75
NW> feet or so (until the end of the dance floor), or someone would have
NW> thought there was a tornado a brewin' (from all the air being pushed
NW> from those cabinets! I stood there in front of 'em for about 10
NW> seconds to feel for myself.). It was totally unnecessary,
NW> and the club manager eventually made his way over to the sound board
NW> to tell him to "turn it down!" Darrell told the band fronting
NW> him, "Let's go back on so he will shut that stuff off!"
Been there.. done that... got the T shirt!!
