Mandatory tools are in ROM for all IIgs versions:
- Tool Locator: load/unload other tools
- Memory Manager: deal with memory issues
- Miscellaneous Tool: handle interrupts
- Quickdraw II: draw text and shapes onto the screen
- Event Manager: keyboard & mouse events

Loading a tool requires GS/OS or ProDOS 16 in memory. If not, you will
have to load it manually from a ProDOS disk, change its Object Module
Format to a RAM format (see GS/OS reference), then initalize it with
the Tool Locator.

Good luck for that one!

The toolbox is really useful and easy to understand. One book that
could be useful to you is: "Programmer's introduction to the Apple
IIgs" which contains a C, Pascal and ASM source code of the same
application called Hodgepodge (If I remember correctly)
