This is one possibility. 3 holes are better than 3 high tiles.

As you say your tool is sparsely populated this would be my preferred
solution. With SiC # 80 the 3 tiles will not stay proud for long. If your
tiles are really high, you can slightly apply solution 2 to gain time, w/o
overdoing it.
