That's cool.
Pretty much my plan too.
The 486 to the internet and network whatever to that.

I'm not really certain why but I want the full function of the internet
at the 486 firewalled and then to the Pentium to see it transparently and with
the multimedia apps limited to the Pentium.
I'm just weird.

Well I've not needed to redo much of anything for quite a while.
Next month is shot to heck for the security on the power
as I've got to take it off the apartment business account.
I need to see about that next week.
After that I want to snag that 933MH3 P-III as I'd said previously
and slap that other video card in to see what it is you rave about.

I'm actually looking more forward to getting the used machine than
possibly getting a new one from Mad Tux as I'm familiar with the chip set
and Slackware will slide into it without the slightest difficulty.

I imagine I'll be a bit deviant here too ;-)
With the software setup.
I'm rather opinionated about how to do things.
You have no idea how unlikely it was I'd fall into line with your line
of thinking as regards to Linux.
But there we are.

They can stuff it somewhere I say.
Hey, they run Linux on hte International Space Station.
I guess there was some concern about getting a BSOD with that up
there where there ain't no air.

Oh I've been pushing to hard too and paying a severe price but I'm
just so darned mean it's just made me resolve to be that much tougher
and take an even cheerier attitude and outlook on things.
I'm weird but I take it you may have gathered that?

 Now there you go.
 I'm quite demented myself.
Was invited to lunch with a lady a couple weeks back and made
 myself useful :-)
I wish I could share the line but this ain't the place for that.

Cool.
I've thought about keeping everything on a flash disk and ramdrive
wit a few choice scripts to set it all up.
But for the foreseeable future I'll likely be on hard drives mostly.
New memory appearing on the retail scene soon I am hearing.
Latest bleeding cutting edge must have I am hearing.
Good for me, I'll get lots of the old useless stuff cheaper
and running Linux run circles around most running that other OS

MK> Slackware is the best. A tad bloated for my evil, demented plan though
MK> which is why I am using ttylinux. It was Slackware that got me to this

 MK> doubt about that.

I may wind up with bloat, and minimal installs and boot between them.
As things stand now there's absolutely nothing I *need*
but I do have some limited *wants* and desires.

Once I attend to them I've determined I shall will myself healthier
and then perhaps a Beowolf cluster

On a more serious front, I really need to get after the source
code for Lynx on my other two Slackware CDs and recode the output
to eliminate that blue prompt line.
It's hard on my eyes with the difference in contrast between that
bright blue and the black background as causing a bit of
a kind of eyestrain and headache.

I've always been quite serious about doing that but was
overly optimistic on purpose about the timetable as I wasn't
sure I'd have the time.
Figured if I set the goal I'd have to hang around as I've always done
my best to keep my word even if it's to myself.
Hey, it worked to keep my marbles when I took up with Linux

Shoot Maurice, I'm just too darn mean to die ;-)
Or too weird.
Or some ( per)mutation of both!
