It's not so bad any more. You probably are too young to remember the
Grapevine before I-5 went in. I believe 5 was completed in the early 70s. My
dad drove it, towing a travel trailer, a few years before I-5. It was really
"hairy", as he said. The section still called the "Grapevine" on I-5 is an
easy up and over in comparison to the way it USED to be. The folks that have
the most trouble with today's road are either is too much of a hurry to get
up and over it, or their cars weren't in decent shape in the first place, or
if they are towing a trailer they forget that they are hauling weight and
must slow down to let the engine do its job!
We just went over this pass a couple of weeks ago, on our first day of our
vacation. We went over it before 8 am towing a trailer. Our only negative
comment about it was that we were expected to be in the truck lane because we
were towing - and that lane was "rutty".

Lucky you! I love Disneyland - and (to keep this on topic) there are quite a
few exhibits there that are educational in nature. Even some things that seem
like play are actually there to provide learning experiences. If you're into
electronics or computers, just trying to figure out how it all runs so
amazingly smooth can be mindboggling in itself. If you'd rather absorb and
not think, the art museum (animated art) above Pirates in New Orleans Square
is an attraction that many folks miss. Also, the Mr. Lincoln speech is very
inspiring even tho it's rather old-tech.
