web site.  Note that the stated value of the Courier X2 upgrade is
$95, which suggests that's going to be the price to those who don't
qualify for the free upgrade.  Also note that it refers to a purchase
made before 12/31/96 without stating a "made after" date, suggesting
that every "V.E" Courier now in customers' hands will qualify for the
free upgrade.
