KJ>KJ>contact him by phone,
KJ>
KJ>>Each time you call Dr. Ritchie...do you call the 900 number? or
KJ>>at the university?
KJ>
KJ>I know you don't agree with me, but I use either number, depending on
KJ>why I'm calling. If it's a "business call" (ie., getting info about his
I do agree with you if it is medical as above you stated you would
call him as soon as you can by phone for your business.
If it is to donate time, energy
to his cause.....then the university. I am in complete agreement
with you.
KJ>him in our bird club) I will call the University during the day. If it's
KJ>a medical call, I call the 1-900 number.

KJ>KJ>Those of you who breed birds, would YOU sell a bird into this home?
KJ>
KJ>>No, I would like to see and know how behaviours, husbandry with

KJ>She seems pretty knowledgeable, compared to many who've called me about
KJ>my babies, and she is quite a caring person. I haven't been to her home,
KJ>so I can't say how her cleanliness, etc., is.
One of the reasons I stated how she is with birds pertaining to
husbandry....(note I didnot say cleanliness) is many times I believe
the necropsy comes back this virus when in fact, it is the skills
of husbandry that needs looking at....simple questions on your
part could assist with giving you information. You could use
you CAS book for a reference with a minni test for her over the phone
with out her knowing. Just a matter of a conversation. You'll know
all about her and her skills with birds.
KJ>>The idea situation is to order the "virus" book or CD from
KJ>>Winglers Publishing and delay all sells till studied.
KJ>How much info will be in that book about PDS? It's still considered
KJ>pretty much undiscovered country, research-wise. He still can't even say
KJ>for certain that it IS a virus, even though he thinks it is.
You can get information as how long it has been a problem at Aviaries.
When and what has helped with the control of it or at least the
ideas from different vets pertaining to what has been found to better
keep healthy birds. Example: I read you never put a bird with a bird
that has been exposed to the virus. Didn't you say she had a bird
that was with the dying bird?
In other words, I could go on but this stuff was writen by a vet for
the AAV and I feel better if you did some good research before you sell
you baby to this person as you may make a good choice or at least
be prepared if something does happen.
Cherane, CAS
Just took this time as the opportunity to encourage all to use the
hot line instead of the university. This is not fair to the college
Dr. Ritchie or the Aviculturist that pay as Kathy.
