M> Fripp started putting together a new band and at that point Wetton
M> was more than willing to join. Also that's when Bill Bruford left Yes
M> to join up with Fripp and Co.
The funny thing is, if there was one KC album which didn't need great bass
playing (for the most part), it was Islands.
M> Yes, he's done very well. I like _Lone Rhino_, but his second
M> album, _Twang Bar King_ didn't do as much for me. I don't have a
M> lot of his solo material, but one that I *do* really like is _Young
M> Lions_ (1990). IMHO, his best stuff is on the two late 1980s albums
M> by The Bears. I think I may have mentioned them already in another
M> message....
I guess the only non-KC stuff I've heard (other than Laurie Anderson and
Peter Gabriel, maybe) is _Lone Rhino_. Don't know ANYTHING about the Bears,
though.
SD> He deleted a guitar solo of the remaster of _Discipline_.
M> Whoa! I never heard about that! Which one?
Something in "Matte Kudasai", according to the RMPers. I have not verified
this personally, but it seems to be widely agreed upon.
it seems most stores around here
M> don't carry them.
No, that's not surprising. If you really can't find them, I can probably
steer you to a vendor.
SD> David Cross got fired for showing up for gigs drunk.
M> Bloody well right! I would've fired him, too! I've played with
M> musicians who showed up drunk for gigs and there's *no way* I'd put up
M> with it in my band! Geez, I honestly don't see how firing Cross for
M> that reason makes Fripp any different from most professional musicians.
No, just illustrating a point.
I have nothing against Fripp, I just think he's a little
 SD> off, like most proggers...
M> That's fair enough. I'll agree that he's an odd character. I just
M> thought that your describing him as `a world class anal retentive' was
M> a little too harsh and overly negative.
Yes, but I think I'm allowed to criticize him as much as I want, since I've
been supporting him for so long.
Actually, I find him to
M> be quite an interesting individual. ;-)
Yeah, anyone who can come up with _Court_, _LTIA_, and _Discipline_ and call
it the same band has to be pretty interesting.
