Need some more information on the config (esp the server and tape backup
hardware, and
the version of the tape backup software). I assume the tape drive is in a
workstation or other
server on the net?
Can you determine the actual size of the database that is being backed up?
Does other backup
activity seem to take longer? Does your backup software report a throughput
value during backups?
