In DbaseII & III you could use the command 'SET CARRY ON' (I pretty sure 
that's what it was called) to automatically copy the information from the 
last record into a new record. 
This is different to a standard default value as it can change from record to 
record. As an example let's say you are creating a parts master and one of 
the fields like Product Group changes periodically, rather than always having 
to enter or retype you only need to do it when it changes.
