bend over and grab your ankles, d00d.
You're going to go BROKE simply buying the tubes :)
Didn't the SVTs use some of the tubes that can't be found anymore? I
hear Ampeg was really fond of them and owners always wound up converting
the tubes over to a more popular types.
As for instructions, that's a hairy one (but so am I).
I highly recommend reading a few of the amp books, which detail this
procedure. Tom Mitchell has a great book/video combination that goes
into this.
Basically you have to know what the correct bias figure IS. After this,
it is recommended that you solder a one ohm resistor from cathode to
ground. Take a reading across the resistor and adjust the bias
accordingly.
But that's really basic... there's also the matter of how to adjust the
bias. I am not familiar with the SVT (aside from the WEIGHT), but some
amps have a bias adjustment pot, and some have fixed resistors that you
have to replace until you hit the proper bias number.
The schematic is in the Weber and Pittman books, I believe.
Now listen closely:
THIS THING CAN KILL YOU.
If you don't know which end of a soldering iron to hold, pay someone
else to do it. If you're comfortable with electronics, the books will
give you instructions.
Good luck, Mr Phelps.
