Onboard storage, no, there is only the SD card.  However, if you search on
youtube you can find at least one video where a guy hooked a powered USB hub
to a Pi, put a thumbdrive in each port, and was thereby able to add a "raid
array" to his Pi.

If you plan on using many USB things with a Pi a powered USB hub is a good
idea.  I have been able to use an external HD with my Pi and USB hub.
