Hi all,
For anyone who might be interested in seeing what severe TDE looks like, I
have a  pic on my web site that shows it perfectly. (well nearly anyway.)

I have never been able to recover the nearly perfect sphere I had before I
had to grind out a deep scratch.  I now believe that the edge defect is
ground in.  I have neither the time or inclination to repeat the grinding
and polishing time it would require to attempt to correct this.  This was
an exersize to see if a 16.5" mirror could be made out of 3/4"
plate glass.  I am not saying it is impossible, but if you haven't got at
least 15 or 20 mirror's worth of experience, I would suggest that you not
waste your time.
