subject: Finally! I have a cat!

After far too long without a cat in my life, I once again am the
humble slave of a kitty! Meko is a two-year-old mackeral tabby
who had been living at the Humane Society since last July.
(She came there pregnant; I'm told her kittens found good homes
*very* quickly, which makes sense if they were anything like
their mother.)
Barely 24 hours after coming to my home, Meko has taken complete
charge. So far she's made the following points perfectly clear:
Her favorite seat is smack-dab in the center of the sofa.
Sloppy-joe sandwiches are meant to be *shared*.
Pounce (tartar-control) tuna-flavor is moderately aceptable,
but the (regular) chicken flavor does not appeal to her at all.
Friskies dry cat food (ocean fish flavor) is preferable to any
moist cat food I've tried, although not nearly as interesting as
  sloppy joes.
In her opinion, apples smell terrible.
She likes to play hide-and-sleep under the bed in the guest room.
The kitchen sink is the most fascinating place in the entire
house, except of course for the doors.
It impresses her not a bit that I feed her, groom her and tend
to her litter box. She'd much rather be around my mother, who
naturally claims she doesn't like pets at all. (Mother came
over to visit, and Meko took to her immediately. When Mother
left, Meko sat in front of the door and miaowed for about ten
  minutes.)
Her catnip mouse is actually alive; it just "plays dead" in
hopes she won't stalk, pounce, bite and bat it around.
Naturally, Meko is too smart to fall for this trick.
The "handle" end of her cat-dancer toy is more fun than the
  furry end.
Only humans are fooled by the sounds made by "Catz, Your
Computer Petz". Either that, or I need a better set of
  speakers.
That last item may be more important than it appears. Meko has
shown absolutely no interest in the computer, which probably
means I'll have to handle all er mail. *sigh* Just another
job for her human....
