| subject: | another FidoNet message reader (update) |

Ok, I see. ac> So far the closest thing I've seen to what I'd like is FleetStreet ac> for OS/2. Some other programs come to my mind: SemPoint, WinPoint, APoint. However, they're not only editors, but integrated packages with mailer etc. I also like the look and feel of Jesper Sörensen's Gleipner; but that software doesn't use the kind of messagebases you're looking for, I guess. ac> If Java weren't so slow to execute on my development machine(s), and ac> if I had a RAD (Rapid Application Development) environment for it, ac> and if I didn't have to rewrite the MSGAPI in Java, and if I actually ac> liked the Java language itself, I might consider doing it (ie. ac> snowball's chance in hell). I see. :-) I don't want to make you change your mind, but on my machine Java isn't noticably slower than gcc. Having mentioned Kylix/Borland C++, you should have a look at Borland's JBuilder as RAD. Rewriting MSGAPI also isn't neccessary, you can access it via JNI (JavaNativeInterface). Liking the language... well, actually I don't like it, either. However, I like C even less. ;-) Regards, Gerrit --- Msged/BSD 6.0.0* Origin: Is serving every man (2:246/4020) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 246/4020 2411/413 2432/200 774/605 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
