This is from Novell's knowledgebase on their site http://support.novell.com
searched cdrom access.
I suggest you patch your server first, not matter what verstion of the NOS
you are using...

There are no instructions in the NetWare 3.12 or 4.x manuals on how to mount
a CDROM device
as a NetWare volume. Therefore, this document explains how to do this.

Instructions for mounting a CDROM device as a NetWare volume under
NetWare 3.12 or 4.x.

     1. Load the appropriate driver to communicate with the Host Bus Adapter
(HBA) that the
CDROM drive is attached to. For example LOAD AHA1740.DSK. Loading this
driver can occur
at the command prompt at the NetWare server or loading the driver can be
automated in the
     STARTUP.NCF file.

     2. Load either ASPICD or CDNASPI. Loading this driver can also be
automated in the
STARTUP.NCF file. Some HBAs do not require these drivers such as Future
Domain and
Buslogic. Therefore, if the HBA being used does not require ASPICD or
CDNASPI then omit this
     step.

     3. Load the CDROM.NLM that shipped with your version of NetWare.

     4. Enter the CD DEVICE LIST command to list the volume name of the CD
that is in the CDROM
drive. If no volume name appears try unloading and reloading the
CDROM.NLM. If a volume
name still does not appear then the particular CD in the CDROM drive may
not be mountable as
a NetWare volume using the CDROM.NLM. However, some third-party
solutions may have a
     workaround for this situation.

     5. Enter the CD MOUNT [VOLUME NAME] or CD MOUNT [DEVICE NUMBER] command
to
mount the volume. The volume name or device number can be obtained in
step four.
You need to load the cd-rom drivers for netware for your particular cd player
(ide or scsi) and then load cdrom at the console command prompt.
