Could you give me the history of the "GCC compilers", so that I
can put this into perspective?  Here is the history as I know it:

A compiler called GCC was written by FSF

For many years, people wished GCC was available for MSDOS.

Someone reported that a Japanese person had semi-ported it to MSDOS.

A couple of years later, every man and his dog seems to know everything
about GCC (all 3 versions for MSDOS and OS/2), as though they'd been using
it before MSC 1.0 came out (assuming it did).  BFN.
