I keep mine set on YES also. 
Setting it to NO makes a prompt screen pop up when you go to save 
your message. 
It has a bunch of boxes to check mark or un-check mark before saving. 
Two of the boxes are for SIG & Tagline. 
The SIG line will be faded out if there is no entry in "Preferences" 
with a file listing, or an actual SIG file. 

Experiment by using Alt-C to change it to NO, then reply to a message. 
If you don't like it, do Alt-C and change it back.
