They are a really young couple (early 30s), so this is even harder.
Thanks,

Subject: [StBsYoungAdults] Prayer for Laura McKenzie

Hey all,
I'm writing to give you some information and ask for prayers for Laura
McKenzie.
As some of you know, Laura had an MRI last week and discovered on Monday
that she has a ruptured disk and two other bulging disks in her back. She
is in a good deal of pain, especially at night, though the medicine the
doctor has given her is helping.
We have decided that she will have back surgery to remove the ruptured disk.
That surgery will take place on Monday, January 20th, at Baptist Hospital.
I believe it will be in the afternoon. She will stay in the hospital for a
night, and then come home.
The recovery time from this sort of surgery is long. The doctor says that
for about two months she won't be able to lift anything,
including/especially our little girls. Several people have offered to come
and help us, and we are so thankful for these offers. I'm sure we will
avail ourselves of these opportunities! However, after praying and
discussing the issue with a number of people, we have decided that we are
going to need to hire a nanny to come and take care of the kids while I am
working. We are also going to need to hire someone to help with household
chores.
We would appreciate your prayers. Here is what we are praying about.
For relief from the pain that Laura is in, especially so that she can sleep
at night.
For a successful surgery without complications; and that the surgery will
free Laura from the pain.
For quick and total recovery.
For Ella and Sophie (our daughters) and myself as we adjust to a different
lifestyle.
For financial provision to help offset the costs of the surgery and care.
As a side note, if any of you Nashville folks has a treadmill sitting around
that you don't use, could we borrow it for a couple of months? Walking is
part of the recovery, but walking the hills around our house, outside in the
winter, will not be a good thing for Laura.
So, thank you for reading this, and thank you for your prayers.
Thomas McKenzie
