I have just installed a Novell 4.11 for Small Business Server for a
client, shich includes ArcServe, FaxServe and Groupwise. While I am
configuring this machine in my office I am using my Internet and E-mail
account. I know that my ISP is providing a static IP address, has an MX
record set up, and supports ETRN because I have an NT Server running
Exchange Server 5.5 and everything works fine. I have configured everything
that I know how to configure in the INETCFG.NLM. But when I try to ping IP
addresses, I can only get a response from the server's LAN address, the
server's WAN address, and the Primary DNS server at the ISP. I do not get a
response from the ISP's mail server, secondary mail server's, or any other
IP addresses that should be ping-able. I have tested these addresses from
my NT Server using the exact same dial-up account, login name, password and
static IP address with no problems. I don't think the problem is my subnet
since some of the IP's I am trying to ping are on the same Class C as my WAN
IP and my ISP's Primary DNS. Are there some routing tables on the server
that need setup that I
don't know about? How and where do I do this? What else could it be?
Another symptom is that I can send e-mail but can't receive it.
Also, how do I go about enabling proxy access for the client machines to
go through the Novell's dial-up connection for Internet access?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.
