subject: MODEM SUCKS!

-> The cable modem looks like a network interface card to your system.
-> 100MB NIC into my system won't do any good to me since the cable mode
-> tested around here are equivalent to a 10MB NIC.
In San Diego, with Southwestern Cable (part of Time Warner), the 'cable
modem' hooks up to a normal 10base-T network card. If you already have
one, they'll use it, or they'll supply you with one (for their
satisfaction if you need tech support). The system is capable of 27 meg
downstream, but it's currently limited to about 4 megs, that's suppose
to increase as they add to the system and work out any bugs.
