Position: Assistant Director, Rehabilitation Services for the Visually
Impaired.
Salary: hourly,$15.363; monthly,$2,662.92; annualized,$31,955. Minimum
permanent: $16.131; monthly, $2796.08; annual: $33,553.
Essential duties: Manage a statewide program of rehabilitation services for
visually impaired persons, including supervision of district supervisors and
rehabilitation counselors. Review and approve all cases for conformity with
law, regulations and
policy, monitor operations pertaining to the job placement of clients,
provide guidance and direction to counselors in planning and implementing
rehabilitation plans for individual clients and groups, serve as liaison with
Federal, State and local officials in matters pertaining to rehabilitation,
work with public and private employers to develop job opportunities for blind
and visually impaired individuals, act for the director in his/her absence.
Education/Experience Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities): The individual filling this position should have a master's
degree in rehabilitation counseling/administration/ teaching or closely
related human service discipline. Experience as a field level counselor is
extremely important. Three years experience in supervision of rehabilitation
personnel or
equivalent administrative roles. Demonstrated understanding of blindness and
the rehabilitation of the blind and/or visually impaired is essential.
Understanding of the role of technology in the employment of blind persons
and other facets of job
placement is vital.
