Hello all;
Went to see Gary McGill play yesterday (13th) at Humber College here
in Toronto. There he stood, wailing away on a Tele next to a rack of
equipment almost as tall as he is. Man, this guy can play AND he's got
a great voice!!! He mainly used a guitar processor connected directly
into his PA with a Hughes and Kettner amp for some soloing. The
guitar sounded gorgeous! He covered material from Stomping Tom Conners
to Hendricks to Satriani. Songs like "The Devil Went Down To
Georgia", "Smoke On The Water", "Red House" and too many more to
remember (I'm old y' know!). Just about every genre of music got
touched. At times he played so fast I would have sworn he had ten
fingers on his left hand - only four tho', I checked!. Gary treated me
to an exhibition of guitar virtuosity as I haven't seen in a looonnnggg
time. If you ever get a chance to see his act, go see it. On top of
it all, he's a really nice guy.
While Gary was stripping down after the show, I got a chance to check
out the "RACK". Can you say spaghetti. I asked him if he wanted pasta
sauce. Mr. Gilmore would have a heart attack if he saw it. Id did,
however, sound great.
Take care ...
Paul
