Replying to a message of Dave Drum to Richard Webb: DD> Following my policy of always voting and my stated wish of "No DD> Incumbents" and with my view of most "Libertarians" wanting no taxes DD> (a necessary evil) and cheap recreational drugs Neither of those claims apply to the LIbertarian Party's platforms. The party supports *minimalist* government, which means minimal taxes - not no taxes. The party's position on "controlled substances" is that people should be free to do whatever they want to themselves; the party also supports the notion that with rights come responsibilities, there is no inherent right to place anyone else at risk by one's actions - my position is that any Constitutional fig leaf for the Holy War on (some) Drugs was repealed when the people of this country repealed Prohibition (if they had to amend the Constitution to get the power to ban hooch then they have to amend it (again) to get the power to ban anything else). DD> I will probably vote for the Greens this time around. So you support terrorists? ALF and ELF are both subsets of that outfit. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 848 @PATH: 2905/3 116/901 3634/12 123/500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
