Thanx for the answers to my post. after seeing your responces I realize that my questions left alot to be desired. let me try again what I am looking to do is take a source code downloaded off the internet and make it executable by using chmod or the like. sorry about being so ignorent about linux, but you have to start some-ware :). I want to install falcon's eye nethack game but the instructions say You should already have a GCC compiler installed with your Linux distribution. However, you need to install version 1.2 of the SDL libraries these instructions are from http://falconseye.sourceforge.net/compile.html if you need to see them all. as i dont know how to Install anything from source the instructions don't do me any good. at this point in my linux *training* this is too much for me. I need to take baby steps and learn from EZ an simple applications that will use only the basic libraries. I hope this is a little more clear. as I learn more Linux my questions hopefully will be more concise.
