-=>While in the White Hart, Steven Horn explained to Fred Runk that<=-
re the "Brother Cadfael" series?
SH> I would doubt it but stranger things have been known to happen.:-)
If so, I might try one to see what it was like.
SH> If Pargeter's (Peters') historical novels are any
SH> indication, she'd prefer the rebel but in this case it
SH> would be hard to pick a rebel.
Yeah, didn't really see either as a rebel, someone wanting to change
things--all each wanted to do was change who was in charge.
FR> I gather she was Henry's designated heir, but Stephen got there
FR> first. Was it the bias against women rulers that brought about
FR> Stephen's coronation?
SH> Either that or a fear by the barons that she would continue Henry's
SH> centralization. And one must also remember that the
SH> Normans were not overly concerned about legitimacy and
SH> instead believed in power.
Hmmm, as Stephen was there already and with an army, that makes sense.
FR> Bit confused here. Is this a second message you sent? If so, then
FR> the first disappeared somewhere.
SH> I sent the first one into the ether on August 2.
And where it landed, I know not where.
