While writing to disk with an engraving tool, George went on about MAX and FD
to David Chord
DC> Max's documentation comes with examples for setting up your

GG> Yes, this is the one that I had originally used! My problem is
GG> that when it gets a BBS caller, it will say "Loading MAXimus" and
GG> then it will drop carrier!
What says 'Loading Maximus'? Is this from FD itself?
GG> Have you any ideas on what it might be???
Possibly. The best way I've found with FD is to get it to create a BAT file.
In FDSETUP, go to MAILER, down to ERRORLEVELS. At the bottom, set Create BAT
file to YES. This will create DOBBS.BAT. Set all the ERRORLEVELS for an
incoming BBS call to the same one (easiest way of doing things). In the BAT
file which you use to run your BBS software, have it detect that errorlevel,
and goto BBS_CALL, which then calls \path\FD\DOBBS.BAT (path being the
drive/dir that the FD dir is in).
Now, you'll need to create an EXEBBS.BAT file in the same path as DOBBS.BAT,
as DOBBS calls EXEBBS.
EXEBBS should change to the path that maximus is in, and then :
MAX -whatever (see FD.DOC section 24.7 for details on what DOBBS contains,
and see the Maximus documentation for how to use it).
You can make EXEBBS.BAT contain all the stuff that happens after Max exits,
eg for doors etc, or you can create a section for that in after the BBS call
part of the main .BAT file.
GG> I think I can figure out pretty good about the rest I am having
GG> problems with... of course if I can't, I'll write again!
Of course :-)
Let me know if you need any further help (and yes, you DO have to read the
documentation and do some of the work yourself. It's better to struggle along
now and learn it, then have someone tell you exactly what to do now, and be
stuffed come the time your system refuses to function and no-one is willing
to help you :-)
Cya..
