hmm it looks like I may have to put that sound card into the junkbox and
pull a different one out, the driver finds it and barfs...  oh well, some
others from this part of fidonet gave me a bunch of other sound cards one
of them will probably work, and the 2.6 linux kernel had a
"/dev/null" sound driver too...
