To get a list packages installed on your system

  dpkg --get-selections > /some_file

You'll need to save the file somewhere for use later

On a new install, you then do

  dpkg --set-selections < /some_file

You don't need to worry about the dependencies. If a package has
dependancies they will be installed with the package.
