subject: Maximus/UNIX 3.03b: Released

WG> New version is up on SourceForge.

WG> I would strongly recommend putting it in a *fresh* directory
WG> and building it *from scratch* if this isn't your first
 WG> install.

uh... make clean doesn't??

and a configure script that really locates those things necessary like that
time_t stuff, and whether or not to use BIG_ENDIAN or LITTLE_ENDIAN...

WG> I would provide the SourceForge URLs, but it's down right now
 WG> (Grr).

hummm...

WG> You can get it from here as well:
 WG> http://wes.zapto.org/~wes/maximus/max-unix-3.03b.tar.gz

 WG> You also need:
 WG> http://wes.zapto.org/~wes/maximus/max-3.03-etc.tar.gz

this all comes down from sourceforge when one uses the cvs line that andrew
posted, right? just for grins, i've been pulling it in and attempting to
compile it... mainly comparing what i was getting with what vince was
getting... seems that we're getting much the same errors... my sessions are
like this...

  cd /opt/maximus
  make clean
  cd /opt
  cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous{at}cvs.maximus.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/maximus
co maximus
  cd /opt/maximus
  ./configure
  make squish > compile.log 2>&1
  cat compile.log | less

 WG> # tar -zxvf max-unix-3.03b.tar.gz
 WG> # tar -zxvf max-3.03-etc.tar.gz
 WG> # cd maximus
 WG> # ./configure
 WG> # make build
 WG> # make install

WG> Vince: I think this will build for you. It works under GCC
 WG> 3.2 and RedHat 8(?) now.

WG> To find out what's new, read the CHANGES file. It would also
WG> be helpful to read 00-README.1ST and QUICKSTART.

will be looking
