I have a GVC 33.6 modem which is only a week old it seems to work fine
though I have limited experience with high speed modems.
The problem is it smells. It has a burning smell to it, and under scrutiny
I found the Rockwell Chip
"RC288DPI R6682-26" has a hole in it. v this is where the
---*---- hole is.

RW = rockwell
Is this normal for Rockwell chips?
I hope this message is not to lame. :-)
I have spoken to the dealer, he said he will take it to the importer. I
don't know what they will do with it. I never leave the modem on when it
is not in use. It is unplugged from the wall and power.
The computer is also unplugged from the power.
When I rang the dealer he was trying to imply it was a power surge. It is
supposed to come with a 3year warranty.
Thanks for any info on the above.
Richard.
