RL> It's a question that deserves an answer that takes up more space than
RL> a BBS message should take, but let try to put my humble opinion in a
RL> few lines. One end of the spectrum was well stated by Archie Bunker
RL> when he said "people who don't have anything to be ashamed of don't
RL> need any privacy." The truth is somewhere less radical than that, but
I would agree with that statement, but im not a pilot ;)
RL> how much less is the question. As for me, if I felt I would get a
RL> fair evaluation based on the evidence, I wouldn't mind having my
RL> performance in the cockpit broadcast live on national television (a
RL> very boring program indeed). However, when one sees the bizarre things
RL> that can happen in courts and other quasi-judicial institutions, one
RL> tends to be cautious in letting it all hang out. -- I can offer one
Thats the doozy...
RL> recent experience that relates to your question. I was attending our
RL> annual DPE meeting with the local FSDO. During the meeting the FSDO
RL> told us they were going to begin calling the people we had given tests
RL> to in an effort to identify any problems with the examiners'
RL> performance. I try to get feedback on the quality of the work I do and
RL> I was glad to hear there would be a process to help in this effort.
RL> However, several of the examiners raised objection to the plan. (Bear
RL> with me while I back up a little bit. Every examiner I know is
RL> qualified, experienced, and capable of performing the duties. As with
RL> any endeavor, some are better at executing their duties than others.
RL> So, for the purpose of discussion, let's just say the examiners ran
RL> from the C to the A+ range.) At any rate, the interesting thing is
RL> that the volume and strength of the individual's objection was
RL> inversely proportional to their "grade." Not very scientific, but
RL> interesting. (There is a line in Shakespeare, which as I recall is
RL> "me doth think the lady protests too loudly."
RL> .
Hmmm I think the shakespeare line is a little out of place but I do
follow what you mean. The ones with good conduct werent the ones to be
worried about...
I agree with that too. Its like the 'you dont have to look in my room,
its tidy, honest!" saga. If the room was that tidy the kid wouldnt be
panicing :)
Cheers and thanks for the input ;)
