BK> Understand that Bute is not aspirin although in a sense it works like
t..
BK> However Bute is a very effective pain killer and anti-inflamitory..
BK> Always give a horse a bit of leeway when coming off an illness.. don't go
BK> back
BK> to full schedule right away if you can aviod it. Just like humans.. they
BK> loose
BK> muscle tone.. and can be prone to relapses when not given enough time to
BK> recover when hit with severe upper respratory infections (we had two this
BK> year like that).
Thanks for the information, Bob. Yes...The vet told me bute was *kind
of like aspirin* but that was all I knew about it. We had him on medication
for about a week. I talked to another vet and he said alot of horses this
time of year get runny noses and coughs. He said alot of them are alergies
from the pollen. Thats pretty funny.....hay burners with hay fever. Walker
has been getting some real easy workouts. I only work with him for about an
hour in the arena and then we go on a short trail ride. I am working him
at a walk and slow trot mostly, getting used to each other and the commands.
We are starting to do the collected canter now.Not enough for him to work up
much of a sweat. Boy, there is so much to learn, but it is great fun. I feel
alot more comfortable on him now than before I started the lessons, and he
is really paying attention.
BK> I'd try it first and see if the horse would eat it.. but grass hay is not
BK> as rich as Alfafa.
It looked really good and he eats it, but he likes the alfalfa better.
We went down to Centralia, Wa. and I helped load 6 tons for my neighbor
and me. I got hay fever so bad that I wanted to die!! Maybe its worth
paying a little more to have it delivered and stacked
I have 5 days off next weekend. I am trying to plan a trail ride up
the Crest Trail heading north from White Pass for a day. If we have time
we might run over to Ocean Shores for a couple of days, and stay at my
wifes aunt's property. We'll see how Walker likes the ocean.
