Yo!
Actually, they go together quite well. One can believe that a deity,
whichever he/she chooses to worship, did indeed create the universe and
all that is in it. Why couldn't that deity have used evolution as a
means to that end? Why would he/she want to do that? Well, I don't
know, it's just what I believe. I also believe that we have an inherent
responsibility to take of that which has been provided to us and every
other living being in this universe--the environment. I hate to get off
topic (after all, this IS an environmental conference), but that's what
makes sense to me. My spiritual beliefs are probably very far off from
anyone else's that posts here, and they really have no place. Justed
wanted to reply and clear that last reply up. Creationism vs. evolution
is probably not a very good thread to get started anyway, if only
because of it's propensity to incite flames and the like. The
environment is important to me. After all, without it, I nor anyone
else would be here. If we don't learn to take care of it, it will take
care of us in an effort to protect itself from destruction. That is the
natural order of things, and the way it ought to be. Probably a fair
summary of evolution as well.
