As this reply will stand as evidence of.  Exactly 2346 bytes as of this writing
and am still picking away at making it possibly leaner and most definetly
meaner if I can.

Understood.  I have been toying with writing a replacement for perl's {,un}pack
finction that could be called up by a bash script instead of the one-liner
currently being deployed to append the annoying extra unneeded data in raw msg
and pkt headers.  However I require perl for other things so I have yet to get
around to it and if push comes to shove would rather see that particular data
get ye' olde heave-ho instead.

I seriously doubt it will ever happen.

Byte your tongue!!!  The above quote could easily get you ostracized in many
Unix circles as it could easily be seen as pure unadultered heresy.  ;-)

To many old timers c and unix are one and the same.
