Actually yes, take for example a PPP link. There is a mixture of
compressible and uncompressible data being transfered. It is the modems
job of compressing the data and with the 13 bit V.42bis compression, with
8192 byte tables, you'll end up getting more out of the link.
And you obviously care about the few extra CPS, re back a few messages in
the thread.
