If that is all it takes then for sure I'd have taken up fortran decades ago.
However the real reason I didn't was that all the f77 source I had back then I
found similar and often better apps already working in linux so there wasn't a
need to. So far most holes I have found in linux can be filled in by linking
existing apps together using bash. If not then I still have gcc close at hand.
