-=> From what I recall, Martin Ridgley said this to Lorne Murphy <=-
MR> I really like _Relayer_. I'm a big fan of Patrick Moraz's playing.
MR> I actually like his work on _Relayer_ better than almost anything
MR> Wakeman ever did with the band. (Oooops! 'Scuse me for a sec, while
 MR> I don the asbestos pyjamas!) ;-)
No, fair enough. Plenty of people agree with you here. Not me
though :) I do like Moraz, but he wasn't around long enough or for
enough material to have outdone Wakeman... i.e. if he were on GftO,
for example, I could use that point........did that make sense?
MR> I'm afraid I don't recall what else he did with Yes, though. I got
MR> into Moraz's solo career and basically lost interest in Yes. What
MR> other Yes albums is he on? When did he quit the band?
He's only on _Relayer_. Oh, and _Yesshows_, just a poorly compiled
live album. You're not missing anything there.
MR> it as well as Bruford's (I'm a long time fan of his), and as you say,
 MR> the songs are superb!
Same deal here, Bruford ranks high in my fav drummers list.
MR> I suppose I am in the minority among the critics and Yes fans alike
MR> in saying that I never really liked _Fragile_ all that much.
MR> However, I *did* quite like it's follow-up, _Close to the Edge_.
I don't like _Fragile_ as an *album*, but the individual songs are
strong (the main ones, not the little solo pieces, although I love
"We have heaven"). THe album doesn't flow properly, somehow. _CttE_
is great, of course. "And you and I" is among the strongest stuff
 they ever did, IMO.
MR> I've never even heard those albums. As I said, after _Going for
MR> the One_ and _Tormato_, I turned off them. I did eventually pick up
MR> _90125_ though, and enjoyed it. The production is good and it's got
MR> at least a couple of strong songs.
So really, you've only missed _Drama_ and _Yesshows_, as far as
pre-_Big Generator_ stuff. And believe me, you haven't missed
anything from that later era. _Drama_ is great, though.
MR> interim albums. My interest in Moraz would make anything with him on
MR> it worth a listen. But based on some of the opinions I've seen here,
MR> as well as those of my friends, I honestly don't think I can justify
MR> going out and buying them - unless I can find decent copies in a used
MR> record shop or something. I'll have to take a look and see what's in
I've seen a decent amount of cut-hole Moraz albums, especially
_Future Memories_, _FMII_, _Story of I_, _Patrick Moraz_ and one
other which I can't recall the title of. I found a copy of
_Coexistence_, which he plays on (with Syrinx), but the album was
scratched, so I didn't pick it up, though it would be a great gem
for my vinyl collection. I used to have it on cassette, which I
found for a dollar in a department store...
As far as Wakeman goes, I've found *tons* of his stuff on vinyl,
and though most of it is atrocious, it's necessary for the
 completist like me. :)
