Maybe you should impliment disk space limitations.  The DOS
function call that your software is making to get free space
is limited to 2GB.  Any value over that may result in a
negative amount of free space, which may cause the program
to balk.  Putting a user space limit of 1GB or so *should*
eliminate the problem.

This would probably happen with Client32 as well.
