Hmm, is your modem internal?
If not, remove all COM2 ports (any way you can) and reboot. It should
automatically detect a new COM port. If not, install it manually.
If you modem is internal, disable COM2 on the serial card (or in the BIOS
for new systems) and install the modem drivers (PnP modems will automagically
tell you what to do).
