So what's wrong with that, chr(1) IS a smiley ! The fact that it DISPLAYS as
a smiley does not mean that your software can not recognize it and crunch it
as ASCII 001. It's hard to know for sure when I am not looking over your
shoulder, but I suspect you are seeing a problem where none exists.
(Ascii 1, 2 = Smileys : 3,4,5,6 = heart, diamond, club, spade etc. ...)
