You are so right about this. When watching "Nemesis," I saw too
much new s= tuff, and thought it would have been much better to base the
move on someth= ing in the TV show, but "Next Gen" didn't have
anything that could provide = this kind of hook. Sisko's little stunt in
"By the Pale Moonlight" would h= ave been perfect. It could well
be the perfect DS9 movie, if the powers th= at be hadn't spoiled it by
having Sisko jump into the fire pit and become o= ne with the prophets
(didn't I mention something about overblown endings?).=
If not a DS9 movie, then Picard could have handled the consequences, and =
perhaps been harmed in some way, almost a reflection of the way Sisko was
h= armed by something he believed Picard was responsible for (the death of
Jen= nifer at the hands of Locutus and the Borg). Yeah, there are ideas
here. = I wonder if they're still doing those "Strange New
Worlds" fan fiction cont= est... but any story I would write would
tend to violate the rules of the c= ontest. Nevertheless, properly
handled, this could have worked. They coul= d've used the=20
"cardboard madman" as the point man for Romulan rage and dumped
the Remans = completely (what they did to Remus was pretty bad, and
non-canon in Steve-T= rek).
