Don't take me the wrong way, I still believe that the Tassie Devil 33.6k is
a great modem. How many so called "cheapo" modems can make a 28.8k
connect 100% of the time??? (or maybe I'm just lucky?) As far as I'm
concerned, it has been pretty good value for money. I've also noticed that
the chipset used in this modem runs at 16 bits compared to the standard 8 bit
of most other modems (including brand names). As for the 33.6k connect,
I've been told that it is capable of it but it really depends
on various factors (eg. line noise and whether other modems like
Rockwell chipsets). Even USR Couriers and Netcomms have problems at this
speed so I'm not that concerned.

So if you are interested, I would urge you to seriously consider this modem
because nothing beats it for sheer value for money.

BTW: Dick Smith usually sell their modems at a premium, I'd recommend you
look for a local dealer and buy it from them. Generally you'd expect to
pick one up for between $169 to $185 (Im in Melbourne).
Interestingly enough there are other modems that seem to look like the
Tassie Devil and cost the same.

... We now return to our regularly scheduled flame-throwing.
