On 01-17-98, KEITH KNAPP declared to ROBERT PLETT:
KK>RP> On his personal religious views: "They are the result of a life of
KK>RP> inquiry and reflection, and very different from that anti-Christian
KK>RP> system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To
KK>RP> the corruption of Christianity, I am, indeed opposed; but not to the
KK>RP> genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian ..."
KK>RP> - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, April 21, 1803
KK>That's what a Deist would say, Robert.
Then you have a misconception of what a deist believes. Among other
things, deists believe God is not active in the affairs of men and
remains outside human experience, a view Jefferson did NOT have. Deists
can in no sense whatever be described as Christians, nor can I fathom
why any would claim to be one.
KK>Right. And since church authorities often believed that their sect
KK>should dominate politically (as yours believes)
Pay attention, Keith. I've made it known many times here, and also
during the course of the current discussion, that I follow no sect, no
group, no man.
