I'm doing reasonably well here.  We may be acquiring a semi-permanent
house guest soon.  There's this woman we know who is living in a
situation of "domestic violence".  Her husband hits her.  She pours pots
of hot coffee on him.  She asked us if she left him, would we let her
stay for a while, till she finds her own place.  We said we would. Of
course there is the assumption here that she isn't going to pour any
pots of hot coffee on us.  I suppose if her husband had asked us first,
we would have said yes to him too.  After all, the abuse really *does*
cut both ways.
Domestic violence remains a puzzle to me.
