I use it daily here.  Sure beats having to use a browser if you already
know what you want and where to get it.

There are tons of utilities except that pdf's aren't usually one of them. 
I've been using textex lately but usually to create rather then convert.  I
tried converting a MS pdf recently and decided there and then it wasn't
worth it.  Google has an online thing to convert to html and if you use
lynx then you can dump that to a local text file.  Having said that, it
isn't usually worth the bytes given the lack of useful information is
99.99999999999999% of pdf's, especially MS's version of pdf.
