Hi Brian,

BL>Hello to Supra Tech support.
BL>I have a 28.8 fax model.
BL>According to the ATI10 command I have the silent answer and the
BL>Silent Answer Plus features built in.
BL>My quest is to get these features working. I have tried quite a few

BL>Can you suggest an init string for the answer modem set up to enable
BL>the silent answer? I tried AT+FAE=4 as the init string for the modem
BL>in Fax Talk but it will not answer unless I choose auto answer after
BL>(x) number of rings which defeats the whole purpose of the modem
BL>being able to discriminate which kind of call is coming in. B.T.W.
BL>there is no answering machine on the line it is for voice or
BL>fax/modem only. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
BL>Brian.
Silent answer allows your modem to discriminate between voice and fax
when used with an answering machine. Silent answer plus enables the
modem to additionally detect data calls (again with an answering
machine). If you do not have an answering machine on this line, I think
the feature you are after is "adaptive answer". If you have a SupraFax
modem, see page 56,57 of your manual.
Thanks,
