Of course I was being very general. You should know by now that I would
never make a statement like that about the whole of any group.

theists.

I would hazard to say that for most religious people it is because of
fear of non-existence after death. Perhaps I may go as far as to say it
is the fundamentalists (every one I met, anyway) that feel this way.
