EP> Sure. Lets take that statement (keep it in the thread) and
EP> examine it. You haven't said NRA compromises. You've said NRA
EP> *LIKES* compromises. Anyone who actually *WON'T* compromise
EP> will be destroyed the first defeat they suffer. You and I
EP> both compromise; otherwise we'd be in revolt right now. EP
BULL!!!!!!
You may be willing to give up some of your guns, some of your rights in
the vague hopes of keeping the rest. I WON'T!!! You may want to keep
certain passages of the Constitution around, blithely trashing the rest,
I'm not interested. That's why I've taken several oaths over the years
to protect it. Not some of it, not pieces of it, ALL OF IT.
The danger is people like you. It's people like you that allow gun
control laws to happen. I fight, you role over in the hopes of damage
control. Better screwed by the dick you see then the one in the dark
eh? I DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for liking it, the NRA has PROPOSED some of those compromises and
some of the laws.
EP> I haven't said the truth shouldn't be spoken. I said it
EP> WASN'T being spoken. You're welcome to your opinion, of
EP> course; but you are attributing to NRA leadership a thought
EP> and decision making process of which you cannot possibly have
EP> knowledge. EP
I don't give a tinkers damn about the though and decision making
process. I do give a damn about the results!
EP> If so, I apologize. Lets deal with demonstrable truths as
EP> much as possible; because our opinions differ. Since they do
EP> differ, lets deal solely with the statements I challenged. EP
That's a little tough. You keep mixing them. But I'll try to keep up.
EP>___------This is where YOU (not I) brought GOA into the
EP> discussion------ This is where you stated NRA was "chipping
EP> away at the second amendment"; indicating an active effort.
EP> Not a passive acceptance; not ineptitude; not anything,
EP> except an active effort. I challenge that assertion. EP
You're mixing again right here. I brought GOA in *soley* as another gun
ownership group who's membership is growing. *nothing* else. It was
you that took off and started making claims about vahala and such.
Now, just which are you challenging in the above? You've got two
different topics going at the same time. Rhetorical question probably.
I'll go on the assumption you're interested in the 2nd amendment.
Brady Bill (*backed* by NRA)
Colorado (*proposed* by NRA!)
Arkansas (*endorsed* by NRA)
Maryland (*silence* by NRA)
All the above (and many many more), are contra 2nd amendment. Athough
you claim that to be good. Because one must compromise their rights in
hopes of keeping some.
To paraphrase Franklin "those who would sacrifice a little safety for
comfort deserve neither."
EP>NRA, and an increase in membership for organizations such as GOA.
EP>___------------------------------------------------------------------
Look at the membership numbers.
EP>Your friend is perfectly within his rights to not be a member of the
EP>NRA, to be tired of their money grubbing tactics, to be completely
EP>disgusted with their anti-gun tactics, and afraid of their
EP>willingness to compromise.
EP>___----And THIS is your original statement I wish to
EP>dispute.---------- -------If we can stay on track, we can discuss
EP>this as long as you ___----like. Ernie P.
EP>----------------------------
Me stay on track? Shesh, you've just underlined *several* points that
it seemed like you wanted to dispute. Look, if you can't put it
together in a reasonable manner what it is you wish to dispute, don't
blame it on me if I get confused by all this.
Now what do you want to dispute? Your friends rights? Your friends
right to not agree with the NRA? Your friends right to not be in the
NRA? Your friends rights to not like the NRA's money grubbing? Your
friends rights to be disgusted with their anti-gun tactics? Your
friends rights to be afraid of their willingness to compromise? Or my
views on the same?
EP>Perhaps more people like your friend would help the cause, and not
EP>hinder it. For to many people, the NRA is a very dangerous foe of
EP>gun rights.
